BCBA-led ABA care across Northern & Central New Jersey

About Us & Our Founder

About SKC Learning

Thoughtful, individualized ABA care focused on what matters most—meaningful growth and everyday independence.

SKC Learning was founded on the belief that effective ABA should be individualized, compassionate, and grounded in evidence. We work collaboratively with learners, families, and educational teams to develop skills that are meaningful in everyday life while respecting each learner as an individual.

About the Founder

Shakira K. Czapla

M.Ed., BCBA · Founder & Executive Director

“I founded SKC Learning with a simple belief: ABA should help learners build meaningful skills and greater independence without losing sight of who they are as individuals. Every learner deserves thoughtful, compassionate care that recognizes their strengths, respects their needs, and focuses on what truly matters in their everyday life.”

— Shakira K. Czapla, M.Ed., BCBA

Experience & Clinical Leadership

Shakira earned her Master's Degree in Education (M.Ed.) with a focus in Special Education and completed her behavior analytic coursework at Rutgers University. As a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) with two decades of experience in the field, she brings extensive clinical and leadership experience across home-based ABA services, school consultation, behavioral assessment, treatment development, and collaboration with families and educational teams.

Her clinical approach emphasizes positive, evidence-based practices, individualized treatment, and respect for neurodiversity. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, Shakira believes treatment should reflect each learner's strengths, needs, preferences, environment, and stage of life.

At the center of our work is a simple question

Will this skill make a meaningful difference in this learner's everyday life?

That principle guides the development of every goal at SKC Learning—from communication and self-advocacy to daily living skills, executive functioning, flexibility, relationships, and greater independence.

About Our Practice

What Guides Our Work Every Day

We are a clinician-led practice serving children and adolescents throughout Northern and Central New Jersey. Our approach is built on four core commitments:

Individualized Care

Programs built around each learner's unique strengths, interests, environment, and stage of life. No cookie-cutter curriculum.

Evidence-Based

Grounded in the science of learning and behavior analytic research, with ongoing data review and BCBA oversight.

Family Collaboration

Caregivers and school teams are true partners. We design practical strategies that fit naturally into everyday routines.

Respect for Neurodiversity

We focus on meaningful autonomy, functional communication, and self-advocacy—never on making learners appear more "typical."

Rooted in New Jersey. Focused on Families.
